The MoRPh10 indices are now out of beta and have replaced the old indices on the map on Cartographer!

We have adjusted the computations mapping colours for these indices to better reflect the diversity of rivers in the MoRPh dataset. Most of the adjustments are minor. Most significantly:

  • We have renamed index 12 to Riparian vegetation structural complexity and revised its calculations to align it with index 11.
  • Because indices 10, 11, 13 and 14 were all displaying very small numerical ranges, we have rebalanced them to improve discrimination across different sites.
  • Finally, because the cover of non-native invasive plant species is often quite small, we have added an index 16 Number of non-native invasive plant species to represent the presence of up to 6 plant species (Himalayan balsam, Giant hogweed, Japanese knotweed, Floating pennywort, and up to 2 locally important species).
